Four Seasons Bahia Beach Review

The Four Seasons Puerto Rico is a secluded beach resort. Located in a 483 acre nature reserve. Located along 2 miles of golden beach. The resort has so many activities, with multiple swimming pools, bikes, golf, tennis, pickle ball, kayaking, nature treks and more. The resort is located on Bahia Beach, off the beaten track. On the North East coast of the island. This resort is all about seclusion. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to be.

I was upgraded to a 769-square-foot grand ocean front room at the Four Seasons Puerto Rico on Bahia Beach, with direct beach access and a sprawling terrace. The base rates started at $1,786 a night, though the property is less about the price tag and more about what happens once you arrive: a full 40-minute drive from the airport, then another 10 minutes just to reach the reception. This isn't a casual stopover. It's a destination designed for total immersion.

Dining was reasonable for this calibre of resort — around $25 for a main course by the pool. The kids' club is genuinely one of the best I've experienced. And if you reach out before arrival with the right email template, a room upgrade is surprisingly achievable. What makes the Four Seasons Bahia Beach different, though, is what it deliberately isn't: there are no shops nearby, no nearby restaurants, no nightlife vibe.

Spend your days kayaking on the boating lake, spotting wildlife on nature walks, or simply watching the ocean from your terrace. At the Four Seasons Bahia Beach, if you're hoping to explore beyond the property, this isn't the resort for you. But if you want several days of genuine peace with your family? This is exactly the place.

If you're planning a luxury escape like this, airport transfers and nearby activities deserve real thought. Welcome Picks and Viator both make sense for this location — check them out along with the rest of the tools on my Recommended Resources page, which includes cards and lounge access that make stays like this more affordable.

The Booking

At the Four Seasons Bahia Beach, I booked the lowest category of room for my family of four, for two nights. Which retailed at $1,786 per night.

I contacted the hotel beforehand and was able to get an upgrade to a grand ocean front room with balcony. Which costs $2,004 per night.

I was there in October during the off season. It wasn’t cheaper but the property was less busy!

I booked two nights. The base rate was $1,786 per night.

The Location

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach Puerto Rico is in a secluded location on the North East of the island. About a 40-minute drive from the airport.

Once you enter the resort, it’s a 10 minute drive to get to the entrance. It’s that big!

There’s no shops or restaurants nearby. Once you’re at the resort, don’t plan on leaving! It’s massive here and there’s loads to do. And you’re far away from anything.

The climate here was noticeably cooler than San Juan, with less sunshine.

The Resort

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach is HUGE with loads to do

  • Main swimming pool is large
  • A smaller pool at the beach club
  • Tennis courts
  • Pickle Ball
  • Kids Club
  • 2 miles of sandy beach
  • Bikes to get around
  • Spa
  • Boating Lake
  • 483 acre nature reserve

The reception desks were located in the Casa Grande. Which means big house in Spanish.

This isn’t the resort to stay at if you plan on travelling around! The resort is the destination itself.

It’s off the beaten track in a large nature reserve. It's not your typical beach resort. Don’t expect a dj or a water slide! Spend a few days here to recharge and enjoy your surroundings.

Once you get off the highway, it’s a 10 minute drive to the hotel entrance. It’s then a further 10 minute drive to the reception.

Most of the buildings are on the beach front. There are 9 buildings with the rooms. I was in building 5. There are also separate buildings for the convention centre, spa, Casa Grande (big house), tennis club, boathouse and more.

To get around, you could walk, take the bikes or call a buggy. The resort is very large.

I'd definitely recommend walking the nature reserve — there's plenty of wildlife to spot. Just remember to take insect repellent!

In terms of dining, each pool had it’s own restaurant. The prices weren’t too bad. With main meals costing around $25. The quality of the meals was perfectly fine. I should mention that I’m vegetarian, and very much into eating clean.

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach in Puerto Rico occupies 483 acres of nature reserve with 2 miles of private beach. Accommodation and facilities are distributed across multiple buildings, including the Casa Grande (where reception and breakfast are served), the spa, restaurants, convention centre, tennis centre, and boathouse.

The tennis centre has two hard courts and two clay courts, plus a gym and ping-pong table. The spa is open until 5pm. Multiple pools and a boating lake provide recreation across the property, along with a dedicated kids' club.

If you're after sprawling resort grounds with multiple pools and endless family activities, the Marriott Maui Ocean Club in Hawaii delivers that same mega-resort experience.

The Room

I was upgraded from a base level room to an ocean front grande deluxe. Which is an upgrade of four room categories. Sadly, my room was on the 1st floor and not an upper floor. And my view of the sea wasn’t great.

The room itself was spectacular. At 769 feet, it’s very large. With two queen beds for my family of four. There was a large TV. Also a large desk for me to work on (I’m sat here right now!).

There was a decent-sized terrace with direct beach access. There was a day bed and chairs on the terrace.

The bathroom was fabulous too. With a large, deep bath. And a giant drip shower.

I was in room 511 which was right next to the reception.

The room had a Nespresso machine and tea selection. The coffee was excellent.

The Restaurants

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach spreads dining across the property rather than concentrating it in one central restaurant. There's a restaurant at the main pool and another at the beach club, about 15 minutes' walk away. Both work well if you're spending the full day by the water. Breakfast is served in the Casa Grande, the main reception building, and there's a decent spread: bacon, sausages, eggs made to order, fresh fruit, pastries, cereals, all the usual. I tried the strawberries and blueberries — genuinely terrific. The coffee at breakfast, though? Surprisingly poor. Skip it and hit the Nespresso in your room instead.

Main courses throughout the resort hover around $25, which is entirely reasonable for this calibre of property. The quality's perfectly fine — nothing fancy, but solid. I'm vegetarian and quite particular about food quality, and I found options everywhere I went. The real win? You're not forced into one massive dining hall. You can grab lunch poolside, breakfast in the main building, explore different spots across the property over a few days. It all feels relaxed rather than prescriptive.

The Breakfast

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach breakfast is served in the Casa Grande at the restaurant on the second floor. The following dishes were on offer:

  • Cut fruits
  • Bacon
  • Sausages
  • Pancakes
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Eggs made your way
  • Potatoes
  • Breads
  • Pastries
  • Cold cuts
  • Cereals
  • Tea
  • Coffee
  • Juices

At the Four Seasons Bahia Beach, I thought the quality of the food was pretty good.

I tried some of the fruits. Strawberries and blueberries — they were terrific. I also tried the bagels, which were perfectly fine.

On both days there, I had the coffee. Which was surprisingly bad. The Nespresso in the room was much better.

The Main Pool

The main pool was large. It was a bit like a lazy river. But there was no current to take you round.

There wasn’t a slide or anything. Much to the disappointment of my kids. The vibe of the hotel was secluded paradise rather than mega-resort. So I understand the lack of water slide.

I don’t think that the pool was heated. But no big deal, as Puerto Rico is a warm place.

The Beach Club Pool

The beach club at the Four Seasons Bahia Beach was about 15-minute walk from the Casa Grande (big house with the reception). They have a separate pool there and restaurant.

The pool was smaller than the main pool. It was very pretty, with a great ocean view.

There was also a beach volleyball net there.

The Spa

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach spa is located next to the Casa Grande. Open until 5pm. It had a jacuzzi and steam room.

Sadly, no kids were allowed. So I offered to babysit while my wife used it.

The Tennis Courts

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach has a tennis centre. You can play tennis, pickle ball and padel here.

I played tennis with my wife. The quality of the courts was excellent. Two hard courts. Two clay courts.

There was also a ping-pong table and a gym at the tennis centre.

The Boathouse

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach boathouse is located on the boating lake. A 10-minute walk from the Casa Grande.

I visited there with my family and used the kayak with my daughter. It’s a lovely spot.

There’s also a water park with large floats.

The Beach Activities

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach has loads of beach activities. Giant Connect Four, cornhole, beach volleyball and a five-a-side football pitch.

The Beach

The beach at the Four Seasons spans two miles long. It's a beautiful gold in the sandy beach. Great for walking on.

It’s not your typical resort beach. At two miles long, don’t expect beach clubs, recliners and bar service!

The Kids Club

The resort has a fantastic kids club. One of the best I’ve been to.

There’s a ping-pong table, video games, arts and crafts, board games and a playground outside. It’s as much fun as it sounds.

I made the ‘mistake’ of taking my kids there. It was difficult to get them to leave.

My Take

The Four Seasons Bahia Beach is exactly what I needed: genuine seclusion, a kids' club that's genuinely among the best I've encountered, and real family downtime. The rooms are large and beachfront, the activities abound (tennis, kayaking, spa, pools, nature walks), and dining is reasonable at around $25 per main course. Base rates start at $1,786 per night — steep, but justified for what you get.

This resort is purely insular: no nearby restaurants, no shops, no nightlife. For families seeking genuine peace and downtime? The Four Seasons Bahia Beach delivers. For anyone hoping to explore Puerto Rico beyond the property? Book elsewhere.
