51st & Green Lounge Dublin Airport – Worth It or Overhyped? My Review

The 51st & Green Lounge is unique—it’s physically in Dublin but legally on U.S. soil!

That’s because Dublin Airport has U.S. preclearance. Meaning you go through U.S. immigration before you board your flight. Once you cross that threshold, you're legally in the USA. The best part? You arrive in the U.S. as a domestic passenger, skipping immigration lines on arrival.

This lounge had been on my hit list for a while, and I was excited to finally check it out! But I wasn’t sure what to expect. Online reviews are all over the place.

I only had 30 minutes in the lounge, most of which I spent taking photos (for research, of course). The lounge is small but bright. The food was hot and fresh, and they even had Irish potato bread!

Once you clear U.S. immigration in Dublin, this is the only lounge available. If you’re flying business class to the U.S. then you’ll be sent here. And if you’re a Priority Pass member? You’re in luck!

In this review, I’ll cover:

  • All the ways to access the lounge
  • How to find it
  • Why I enjoyed the buffet (spoiler: the food was solid!)
  • My honest verdict—worth it or overhyped?

What I liked

  • You’re in Dublin, but legally on US soil. How cool is that?!
  • Bright space
  • I enjoyed the breakfast
  • Complimentary bar

What Could be Improved

  • Lounge was small

The Entry Requirements

There’s a few ways to get entry into the lounge. Which I cover here.

If you're flying business class to the U.S., you’re in luck—you get access! Not exactly breaking news, since this is the only lounge after U.S. immigration.

You can also get access with a Priority Pass membership. I’ve got an exclusive 30% discount just waiting for you. You need to use my link, as you won’t get the discount otherwise.

What’s the catch with Priority Pass? There’s no catch, but the program isn’t perfect. It has its limitations. Membership isn’t expensive, so the lounges can get busy. Also, if a lounge is full, you might be refused entry. However, you can pre-book a time-slot here for €7. Which guarantees your entry.

Also, Priority Pass Lounges normally don’t have premium alcohol. The exception is the Virgin Clubhouse JFK. You can access that lounge with a Priority Pass, and it has bottomless champagne!

Priority Pass provides access to over 1,700 airport lounges worldwide. Membership starts at €59. A Standard Plus Membership costs €231 and includes 10 free lounge visits per year. That’s €23.10 per visit—which is basically pocket change when you consider the perks:

  • Unlimited food
  • Unlimited alcohol
  • Fast Wi-Fi
  • Private space to relax

And let’s be honest. It sure beats spending €20 at Starbucks for a coffee, a sad sandwich, and a moment of deep regret.

Dublin Airport is actually pretty generous with Priority Pass Lounges. There’s one in Terminal 1 (review here), another in Terminal 2 (review here), and of course, the 51st and Green. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not visit all three in one day?

The Location

Dublin Airport offers U.S. immigration preclearance, meaning you go through U.S. immigration before you even board your flight.

Once you clear U.S. immigration, you’re legally in the United States—no need to go through immigration again when you land!

After passing through immigration, you’ll find only one lounge in this area: the 51st & Green Lounge.

To get there, just follow the signs to the end of the corridor. It’s only a five-minute walk to this Dublin Airport Lounge.

The Lounge

This Dublin Airport Lounge is pretty small. It’s a square shape, with windows on three sides. This means that lots of light comes into the lounge. It’s lovely and bright.

The lounge ceiling has a circular design on it. This means that it looks like the lounge it’s circular. But it’s not, it’s a square!

There’s a small buffet in one corner of the lounge. There’s also a manned bar that serves alcohol.

I really liked the décor of the lounge. It was all white. This helps to reflect the light and enhance the brightness.

The Food

The food at this Dublin Airport Lounge was definitely a highlight. Maybe my favourite part of the whole experience!

During my visit, it was breakfast service, and I was pleasantly surprised by the spread. The small buffet had all the right comfort food:

  • Sausages
  • Eggs
  • Beans
  • Cooked tomatoes
  • Hash browns
  • Irish potato bread
  • Pancakes
  • Fruit
  • Pastries

It was basically a full Irish breakfast, and I’d definitely call that a win!

I went for the hash browns and Irish potato bread—both were exceptional! As a veggie, I’m no stranger to hash browns, but usually, they’re bland, frozen, and tasteless. These, however, were well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The potato bread was equally impressive—warm and soft, a real treat.

The only downside? I didn’t have enough time to fully enjoy the spread. I only had 30 minutes in the lounge. Between taking photos for this review and looking after my kids, I couldn’t indulge as much as I wanted to!

The Drinks

Let’s be real—drinks matter. Who doesn’t love a pre-holiday drink (or two)? Well, so does this lounge! And I’m happy to report that 51st & Green delivers.

Soft drinks are served in the main buffet. There is apple juice, orange juice and grapefruit juice. There is filter water from a special tap. Fizzy drinks were also available.

Tea and coffee are served from a machine.

Alcohol was served from a small manned bar. This was great, as it meant they could serve Guiness from draft! I didn’t get time to try one (it takes like 3 minutes to pour!).

In addition to the Guiness, there was a full complement of beer, wine and spirits available.

My wife had a tea, which she liked. My daughter also liked her apple juice.

My Take on the 51st and Green

The 51st and Green is a unique lounge. You’re physically in Dublin, but legally in the USA! It’s also pretty nice. It’s flooded with natural light and food and drinks were tasty. A thumbs up from me!

I reviewed the Hilton Garden Inn in Dublin City Centre. Review here. Probably the best value hotel in central Dublin. I was upgraded to the top floor as a Hilton Gold. The breakfast was fab.
