I stayed for one night at the Hilton DoubleTree Milan Malpensa. After my flight arrived from London. It was a convenient stay for me.
The hotel has a free shuttle. The rooms are comfortable and they got free breakfast as a Hilton Gold. I also thought the price I paid was pretty good too. I paid €181 for two connecting rooms for my family of four.
Twelve minutes from Malpensa airport, I was desperate for space. I got two actual rooms side-by-side with a connecting door—not a 'family suite' crammed into one space. Dual desks, dual showers, dual TVs. After eight hours on a plane, that extra breathing room is priceless.
The breakfast was genuinely impressive for an airport hotel. We're talking eggs, bacon, sausages, roasted veg, fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt, cold cuts and pastries.
For dinner, my daughter grabbed a pizza. My wife had a vegetarian sandwich. I was nursing some French fries — I was feeling poorly and not hungry. Everyone left satisfied. For a low-lying three-floor hotel where most guests are airline staff staying one night, they've got the practical stuff dialled in.

Next time you're driving your own car to the airport, book parking bundled with a hotel so it's one price and one transaction. Your car's looked after while you're away, and you've got a bed sorted for the night.
Milan's Duomo rises in the heart of the city—a white marble cathedral that's unmissable. Walk the piazza, people-watch from a café, soak in the architecture. For an airport-hotel stay, I was catching an early flight the next morning, but if my schedule's flexible, the Duomo is worth a detour.

The DoubleTree Milan has three floors. It's a low-lying hotel. There's a restaurant on the ground floor. The hotel also has a 24-hour gym.
It's a fairly typical airport hotel. Most guests stay just one night. I'd unlikely stay longer than one night.
The hotel was smart, modern, and offered free parking.
There's a smart lobby on the ground floor with a bar. I had dinner here with my family on the first night. My daughter had a margarita pizza. My wife had a vegetarian sandwich, and I had some French fries. I was feeling ill and not hungry.
My fries were actually really good, and my wife enjoyed her sandwich. However, my daughter didn't enjoy her pizza.
As a Hilton Gold member, my status bumped me to the top floor—higher, quieter, with better views. The third floor.
We had two rooms that were next to each other. There was a door to connect both rooms. Both rooms were identical in size.
The rooms were compact, modern and comfortable. Each room had a TV and a desk.
The rooms were definitely small, but as I was only there for one night, it really didn't bother me.
