Gatwick Priority Pass Review – Plaza Premium Lounge North

Well that was better than expected! Priority Pass Lounges typically provide complimentary alcohol, hot food, free wi-fi and your own personal space.

The Plaza Premium did all that and a bit more on top. The lounge decor was really nice, there was lots of natural light and some great runway views.

The food was especially good. They had a hot buffet. As a vegetarian, they made potatoes, veg sausages and porridge freshly for me.

It’s definitely a thumbs up from me.

This review is for the Plaza Premium Lounge in Gatwick North. The North Terminal is the home of EasyJet. There are separate lounges in the South Terminal.

In this article, I provide full details about what to expect when you visit. I took lots of photos. You can click each photo to open out the slideshow.

I have a recommended tools page on my website. Which explains how to save serious money on luxury travel.

The Plaza Premium can be accessed with a Priority Pass card. Signup here and get a 30% discount.

Below is my YouTube review of this Gatwick Priority Pass Lounge. I created the video after my YouTube training. So hopefully it’s less crap than my old videos!

The Entry Requirements

I got access to the Gatwick Lounge with my Priority Pass Membership. Priority Pass is the biggest airport lounge network in the world. You can signup here and get a 30% discount on membership. The cheapest membership is just £48.

I’m a huge fan of the program. It’s changed the way I view airports. Visiting an airport lounge is part of my holiday now. Getting hot food, unlimited alcohol and my own space is a great start to any trip.

I’ve been to some great Priority Pass Lounge. You can access all Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses in the US with a Priority Pass. My review of the Virgin Clubhouse in New York JFK is here. The lounge had unlimited champagne, restaurant quality food and beautiful natural light.

The below video about Priority Pass is taken from my YouTube channel.

The Plaza Premium Lounge Location

The Plaza Premium is in the North Terminal of Gatwick Airport. Once you get past security, walk through duty free (obviously). Then follow the signs to the lounges. It’s a 5 minute walk.

It’s not a long journey. However, my challenge is getting through duty free. My wife has a habit of buying crap she doesn’t need!

The Plaza Premium is next to the other lounges in the terminal. There are two other Priority Pass Lounges. There’s also the My Lounge (review here) and the No1 Lounge (review here). All three lounges are very good, and I would happily visit each one.

The quality of Gatwick Priority Pass Lounges is probably better than Heathrow Airport. Go here for my review of the Club Aspire Heathrow Terminal 5. The lounge isn’t terrible, but there’s no toilet! You need to exit the lounge and use the facilities in the terminal.

The North Terminal is the home of EasyJet. If you need an airport hotel, I always recommend the Hampton By Hilton (it’s in the terminal!). Below is a short YouTube video I made on the hotel. You can book your stay here.

How to Get to Gatwick Airport

Here is a super quick guide for how to get to Gatwick Airport.

The cheapest method is via a National Express Coach. Book tickets here, with fares starting at £7. The headline says that fares start at £10, but they’re lying! Fares from London start at £7. They also sometimes have deals where kids go free. The coaches are surprisingly nice. With upholstered leather seats, free wi-fi and toilets on board.

Gatwick Airport is the best connected UK airport by train. With trains to multiple London Terminals. If you pre-book your trains here, fares start at £12. If you buy your ticket at the station, it costs £24. The journey takes around 30 minutes.

For taxis, you need to be careful. Black cabs can cost £200 from Central London. Uber are just crap – they have a 1.5* rating on Trustpilot. I use Welcome Picks for my airport taxis. They have a 4.9* rating on Trustpilot and operate in 100 destinations worldwide. Book your trip here or use the form below.

I’ve also written a detailed article on how to get to Gatwick Airport.

The Best Activities in London

London is one of the greatest cities in the world. There’s tons of great things to do.

Not only that, there’s something every budget. With many great activities that are free.

One of my favourite free activities is to visit the Natural History Museum in Kensington. I still remember my mum taking me there when I was 6! The highlight is the life size animatronic T-Rex, which roars and moves.

London’s Theatre District is the best in the world (it’s better than New York – it really is!). Book your tickets here – with shows starting at £15. In the cheap seats obviously!

The Plaza Premium Lounge

This Gatwick Priority Pass Lounge is mid sized. It’s 1,350 square metres and can accommodate 190 passengers. The lounge is open from 4am to 8pm.

It has floor to ceiling windows with runways views on one side. There’s a buffet counter next to the wall. Alcohol is served from a bar, attended by a bartender.

The lounge decor was lovely. It looked like it had been recently refurbished. The bar had a lovely marble effect worktop.

There was a variety of seating. Restaurant style tables, sofas, leather chairs and more. All the furniture was in excellent condition. And there were some lovely pieces of furniture.

The Gatwick Lounge had lovely runway views and was bathed in natural light. I arrived at the lounge early, when it was still dark. And I was able to watch the sunrise.

The lounge wasn’t busy at all. However, I was there at 4.30am. Which is probably before the morning rush.

About 30% of the lounge is cordoned off and reserved for Qatar Airways business class passengers. This is obviously annoying. But it tells you how good this Gatwick Lounge is.

Qatar Airways is one of the best business classes in the world. It’s impressive that they send their business class passengers here.

Qatar Airways flights can be booked here. This is their low fare finder, that has the best deals.

The Food

The food at this Gatwick Priority Pass Lounge was really good. Better than most lounges.

The food was offered was from the buffet. I was there during the breakfast service. There was a full English breakfast. The following dishes were available

  • Bacon
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Sausages
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • Baked beans
  • Cereals
  • Salad
  • Pastries
  • Muffins
  • Breadsticks

There were some cook to order dishes. Porridge, veggie sausages and potatoes. As I’m vegetarian, I had all three of these dishes. They were all very good.

The porridge was like what I make at home. The veggie sausages were high quality ones. Not cheap soya items. My kids had the potatoes before I could get to them!

All of the food in the Gatwick Lounge looked good. Fresh and well made.

The Drinks

There was an impressive drinks offering at this Gatwick Priority Pass Lounge.

The Adult Drinks

Alcohol is complimentary. It was served from the beautiful bar, with marble effect worktop. There were a range of house drinks, which were without charge.

There were also some premium drinks, which were chargeable. These drinks include champagne and certain wines.

They also had beer from a self service tap. Which is pretty cool! I was tempted to pour myself a cold one, as it looked so cool. But it was 4.30am, so I smartly declined.

The Soft Drinks

There was a range of Twinings Tea in a box. Coffee was served from a machine.

I had an English breakfast tea. Which was good, as you might expect.

I wanted a 2nd tea. But I didn’t have time! I was too busy doing a review and looking after my kids!

But I think I got my priorities right! I love writing reviews for my blog – I hope you enjoy them.

My Take on the Gatwick Lounge Plaza Premium

The Gatwick Lounge Plaza Premium is a cut above your normal Priority Pass Lounge. It does everything that you expect. Free Alcohol, hot food and your own personal space.

But it’s a little bit special. The marble effect worktops and décor are super nice. I can see why Qatar Airways happily sends their passengers here.

I’ve also visited the British Airways Lounge at London Gatwick Airport. In the South Terminal. My review is here. I was super impressed with that lounge too. The lounge is large, the food is good and the décor was stunning.
