Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills Review. A beautiful hotel
The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills is a terrific luxury hotel in an amazing location. You’re in the heart of Beverly Hills, 90210. Each room has a terrace. The décor is stunning.
The hotel is next to The Beverly Hilton. It’s part of the same complex. The Beverly Hilton hosts the Golden Globe film awards every year. There’s a 3rd Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills. Called the Cameo Beverly Hills. It’s a couple of miles from the Waldorf Astoria.
The best thing about the Waldorf Astoria, was the spectacular rooftop pool. It has amazing views of Beverly Hills and the surrounding area.
I stayed for one night with my family. We booked using Hilton Points, which was a great deal. Four of us stayed in a room with two queen beds. The room would have cost $1,414 if I had paid in cash. In this article, I explain exactly how you can book the room with points. I also explain how I got a 64% discount on the price of booking.
I had a terrific stay with my family. They weren’t happy when they had to check out! It’s the best hotel in Los Angeles, and I definitely recommend to stay here.

The Booking
I booked a superior queen room with two queen beds. At the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. I used 100,000 Hilton Honors points to book the room. This was a great deal. I was glad to get it.
If I’d booked this room with cash, it would have cost $1,414. Far more than I can afford!
I purchased 100,000 Hilton Points from the Hilton website. Link here. I paid $500 for these points. A 64% discount on the cash rate.
Frankly, I think you’d be insane to pay cash to stay at the hotel. You’ll save tons of money by buying Hilton Points. And using them to book the hotel room. If you’re looking for a Beverly Hills luxury hotel, this is a pretty great deal.
There are other ways to earn Hilton Honors Points. If you live in the United States, American Express issue a number of Hilton Credit Cards.
If you have an American Express Card that earns AMEX points. Then these points can be converted into Hilton Points. This can be done anywhere in the world, not just the US.
The Waldorf Astoria is a hotel that will always sell out. Just because of its prestige. As such, they don’t need to go out of their way for elite members.
I got a $50 food and beverage credit. I used this for breakfast. Which reduced my cost from $120 to $70. Given that there were four people at breakfast, it wasn’t bad value.
Hilton Golds are meant to get a late check-out. If possible. I was given a late checkout at 1pm. Rather than the ordinary checkout of 12pm. It’s something, but not that much!
Hilton Golds are also eligible for upgrades. If there’s space. I think I got an upgrade with my room. My room was on the 4th floor, overlooking the lush landscape of Beverly Hills. The rooms on the other side of the hotel had a worse view.
The Location
When it comes to location, it doesn’t get any better than the Waldorf Astoria. It’s right in the heart of Beverly Hills. Pin Code 90210.
There’s a few Beverly Hills luxury hotels near by. The Peninsula Beverly Hills is a five minute walk. The Four Seasons is one mile away. The Ritz Carlton is 1.5 miles away.
With Los Angeles, you need a car to get around. Whether that’s a taxi, a rental or your own car. If you use a rental or your own car, be aware of parking charges. Which are high. It costs $68 for 1 day, to park at the Waldorf Astoria.
The hotel is 12 miles from LAX airport. I paid $45 for my taxi with Lyft. This was a decent price. The journey took 45 minutes. Los Angeles is famous for its traffic. The journey time is heavily dependent on traffic.
You’re 14 miles from downtown Los Angeles. 20 minutes if there’s no traffic. Santa Monica beach is 8 miles away.
The Best Activities in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is a truly global city. To visit here is a bucket list moment. There’s so many amazing things to do. From the Hollywood sign, to Disneyland to the Walk of Fame. Below are some of my favourite activities.
The most popular sightseeing tour in Los Angeles can be booked here. Rated at 5* from 4,459 reviews. It’s a full day tour, and costs $99. Get picked up from your hotel. Hit all the best sights in one day. An expert guide will take you to The Sunset Strip, Griffith Park, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach Boardwalk, Rodeo drive, Original Farmers Market, Hollywood Walk of Fame, The Hollywood sign and much more!
The Warner Brothers Studio Tour is rated at 4.8* from 4,001 reviews. Book here for $73. Experience the magic of Hollywood. An expert guide will take you behind the scenes of a working film studio.
See Central Perk café from Friends. Become part of the DC Universe and Harry Potter movies on recreated sets. Sit in Sheldon’s spot on the set of The Big Bang Theory. If you’re a film buff, this is a real treat.
Universal Studios is a hugely popular theme park and movie studio in LA. A VIP ticket can be booked here. Rated 4.7* from 448 reviews, it costs $379. It’s more expensive than General Admission ($109), but you get a lot more.
You get VIP access to areas that are off-limits to the general public. You get a gourmet lunch in the VIP dining room, valet parking and refreshments in the VIP lounge. Best of all, you get express access to every ride, attraction and seated show. No waiting in line! Make sure to arrive early with your VIP ticket. You’ll have a lot to do!
A 35 minute helicopter ride can be booked here. It costs $405 and is rated at 5*, from 14 reviews. I’ve done this tour myself, and it was spectacular! You’ll see a lot in your 35 minutes. Don’t forget your camera!
You’ll fly over the Hollywood sign. You’ll also soar over the mansions of Beverly hills, Hollywood Hills, Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood Boulevard, TLC Chinese Theatre, The Dolby Theatre and much more.
You can get a private, 1 day tour of Los Angeles in a classic car. The tour is rated 5* from 104 reviews. Book here for $800, for 5 people. The cost is $160 per person. Which is a similar price to many group tours in Los Angeles. If you’re travelling as a family, I would definitely consider a private car.
You’ll get picked up from your hotel by a local guide. Visit all the best sights. Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Downtown, Walk of Fame, Dolby theatre, Santa Monica Pier, Rodeo Drive, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Sunset Strip and much more. As it’s a private tour, you can tailor your experience.
The Waldorf Astoria is the most famous hotel in Los Angeles. The hotel 1st opened in 1955 and has played host to the elite ever since.
The Waldorf Astoria is in the same complex as the Beverly Hilton. Which has hosted the Golden Globes since 1961.
As you enter the hotel, you’ll see the lobby. It’s really nice, although smallish in size. There’s a classy chandelier coming from the ceiling.
The lobby has a lounge, which is a small café/bar. It’s a well designed area. With a grand piano and lovely furniture.
More generally, the decoration of the hotel is stunning. All the furniture is in immaculate condition. The hotel oozes Hollywood glamour! Lots of grand furniture pieces.
My favourite thing about the hotel was the rooftop pool. On the 12th floor. It’s a beautiful spot, that overlooks Beverly Hills from all sides. The Waldorf Astoria is a great choice for a Beverly Hills luxury hotel.
The hotel has multiple bars and restaurants to dine in. Espelette is located on the Lobby level. It serves Mediterranean food and breakfast too. The rooftop by JG is on the roof of the hotel. Next to the pool, overlooking Beverly Hills. The lobby lounge is a casual dining café/bar. The below image is of Espelette Restaurant.
The Room
I stayed in room 409. It was fabulous! I booked a superior room with two queen beds. I was upgraded to a room with a view of the Beverly Hills greenery.
The room had the following features:
Large room
Two queen beds
Desk
Large TV
Nespresso coffee machine
Large closet
Large bathroom. Separate bath and shower
Large terrace
The room was terrific. It had excellent views of Beverly Hills. The treetops and the hills.
There was also a lovely terrace. With a day bed and cushioned seat. Sadly, it was pretty cold while I was there. So I only went to the terrace to take photos. Photos of my family and photos for this review!
The room was large. It was very comfortable for my family of four to sleep in.
There was a Nespresso coffee machine. Even better, they had nine pods for us to use. Most hotels only give you four pods. I don’t normally drink coffee. But I made an exception on this occasion. I don’t stay at places like this every day!
Everything about the room oozed class and luxury. The hotel didn’t cut corners anywhere. I took loads of photos. You can click any photo, to open out the full slideshow.
The bathroom was really nice. It had a separate bath and shower. There were also high class toiletries from Aesop. My hands smelled amazing, every time I washed them! My wife uses this brand at home.
The Breakfast
Breakfast is served at Espelette from 7am. The restaurant is next to the lobby. There’s no buffet. Everything is ordered from a menu. The menu is given below.
With tip, I ended up spending $120. I used my Hilton Gold dining credit to reduce the cost by $50. So I spent $70 in total. Not bad value for a high quality breakfast for four.
We ordered the following:
Two portions of buttermilk pancakes
Granola
Breakfast potatoes
Smoothie
Earl Grey tea
Everything was of the highest quality. The tea came in a large tea pot. Enough for two large cups. Very nice it was too.
Each portion of buttermilk pancakes came with 3 mid-sized pancakes. Maple syrup, banana and blueberries on the side.
The granola was home made and was pretty nice.
The breakfast potatoes were well cooked and seasoned.
I didn’t try the smoothie, but my kids liked it!
The breakfast was really nice. Expensive for sure. But worth it in my view. It was a lovely experience. Espelette restaurant is shown below.
The Rooftop Pool
My favourite thing about the hotel is the rooftop pool. Located on the 12th floor. The pool is open from 9am, as long as it’s not raining. I was super lucky. The day I checked out was the first time the pool had been open in one week. Because of the rain.
I made sure to drag my family out of the room. To get to the pool for 9am. The pool is rectangular shaped. The water was heated. It was very pleasant, inside the pool.
There’s also a hot tub, available to use. It was really hot, and relaxing.
The main thing was the view. The hotel is taller than most other buildings, near by. The view of Beverly hills was fabulous.
I swam in the pool for about an hour. They played some chilled house music to create a cool atmosphere. The below photo shows the view from the rooftop pool
The Hilton Hotels in Beverly Hills
There are three Hilton Hotels in Beverly Hills, California. This review is for the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Beverly Hills Ca. It’s the premier Hilton hotel in the area. It’s arguably the best hotel in Los Angeles. The room I booked cost $1,414. However, I used 100,000 Hilton Points. Which I bought with cash from this webpage. So I only paid $500 for the night.
The Beverly Hilton Hotel is part of the same development as the Waldorf Astoria. It’s a 4* hotel, and is lower quality than the Waldorf Astoria. For the night I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria, I checked the price of rooms at the Beverly Hilton. The cheapest room was $600. A lot cheaper than $1,414, for the room I stayed in.
The Beverly Hilton wanted 80,000 Hilton points to book the room. It would have cost me $400 to buy 80,000 points from Hilton. I chose instead to spend $500, and buy 100,000 points from Hilton. Which I used to book the room at the Waldorf Astoria. I recommend that you do the same, as the Waldorf Astoria is a step above.
The final Hilton Hotel is the Cameo Beverly Hills. It’s 2 miles from the Waldorf Astoria. It looks pretty nice too. They have an indoor pool, outdoor pool and spa. The cheapest room would have cost $400 on the night I stayed.
Conclusion
The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Beverly Hills Ca is a spectacular luxury hotel. The most famous hotel in Los Angeles. It has stunning décor, excellent location, beautiful rooftop pool and each room has a terrace. The hotel oozes class.
To visit here is a bucket list experience. A true Beverly Hills luxury hotel.
Best of all. You can book the hotel with Hilton Points. I described how I used points to book my room for a 64% discount.
I have loads of excellent reviews on my blog. I stayed at the Waikoloa Ocean Club in Big Island, Hawaii. A stunning beach resort, with three swimming pools and four jacuzzis. In the article, I explain how to stay at the resort. For $700 for four nights.
I reviewed Delta International First Class and was impressed! The suite had a door for privacy. The seat reclines to a flat bed. There was also a large and crisp TV.
I also reviewed Singapore Airlines First Class. It was out of this world! A 50 foot apartment in the sky. With separate armchair and bed. There were 2 TVs and a closet. There was also a choice of champagnes!
