United Airlines have knocked it out of the park with their Club Lounge in Heathrow Terminal 2! The lounge is a beautifully designed space. The food is tasty and locally inspired. There’s also a classy cocktail bar, with marble worktop.
The lounge is bathed in natural light and has terrific runway views.
Yes, you got a 15 minute walk from the main terminal building. But it’s worth it.
Heathrow Terminal 2 is home to Star Alliance. There are four lounges for Star Alliance Airlines. United Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa and Air Canada all have a lounge. This terminal is one of the best in the world for airport lounges.
I took loads of photos for this review. Each photo can be clicked to open out the full slideshow. I also got a great shot of a United Airlines Aircraft, right outside the lounge!

The United Club Lounge is in Heathrow Terminal 2. You can get in, if you hold Star Alliance Gold Status. Or if you’re flying in Business (or First) with a Star Alliance Airline.
If you have entry to this lounge, then you also have access to the other Star Alliance Lounges in Heathrow Terminal 2. The lounges from Singapore Airlines, Air Canada and Lufthansa.
I reviewed the Singapore Airlines Lounge. It’s located two minutes walk away from the United Club Lounge. It’s an impressive space. They have these enclosed booths, that are great for solo travellers. The lounge was busy when I visited.
Heathrow Terminal 2 is called the Queens Terminal. It’s the Star Alliance hub in London Heathrow.
If you don’t have access to the Star Alliance Lounges, there are other options. The Plaza Premium Lounge is in Terminal 2. Review here. That lounge is frequently voted as the best 3rd party lounge in the world.
You can buy entry from the Plaza Premium Website. Get 10% off if you use my link.
You can also get entry with a Priority Pass Membership. Signup here for a 30% discount. This is an exclusive offer, which isn’t available to the general public.
Flying in Business Class with Star Alliance could be expensive. Going to the Plaza Premium Lounge is certainly more cost effective. A Priority Pass Membership works out at £18.30 per lounge visit with Standard Plus. £18.30 for unlimited food, unlimited alcohol, fast wi-fi and your own personal space.
Definitely better than going to Starbucks and paying £18.30 for a panini, muffin and a coffee!
The London Heathrow United Lounge is in Terminal 2. In the Satellite Terminal Building. From the main terminal, it’s a 15 minute walk via the underground walkway. It’s a bit of a pain. Heathrow Terminal 5 has a monorail to take you to the satellite terminal. In Terminal 2, they only have a moving walkway!
The long haul flights tend to leave from the satellite terminal. So it’s convenient if you flying far away.
The entrance to the lounge is unassuming. But inside it’s much nicer!
The London Heathrow United Lounge is a large rectangle shape. One large side of the rectangle has floor to ceiling windows, with runway views. The lounge had the following facilities
The lounge has a beautiful design. There are beautiful lamps coming down from the ceiling. There’s a section of the lounge that looks like a forest. There’s also high quality furniture. United have spent a lot of money on the decor.
There’s lots of seating. There were high communal tables, restaurant style table and chairs, and lounge style low chairs.
The lounge has great runway views from the windows. There was a lovely United airplane outside. Sadly it was raining outside. March in London!
I don’t normally mention the rest rooms in a lounge. I just think it’s weird! I also don’t think that most readers care. However, I’ll make an exception for the United Club Lounge. They had lovely individual rest rooms. There’s a photo of the rest rooms in the slideshow above.
The food was excellent. I really enjoyed my lunch. I would happily pay good money for a buffet like this.
The buffet was at one end of the lounge. All of the food was offered from there. The following dishes were available:
It was a really good selection. Everything was freshly made and tasted great.
I love the fact that they had Fish & Chips. A classic British dish. It was a Friday, which is the most popular day for Fish & Chips. I don’t know if they served it on other days.
I had a small plate of food. Chips (french fries), nachos, mushy peas and salad. It was simple but very tasty. I wasn’t that hungry, which annoyed me on this occasion!
There were two drinks stations in the London Heathrow United Lounge. These stations served soft drinks and tea/coffee. One was next to the main buffet. The other was at the opposite end of the lounge. Coffee is from a machine. They have a tea selection from Twinings.
As I mentioned above, one side of the lounge has floor to ceiling windows. Right in front of the windows is a large manned bar. All of the alcohol was served from here. The bar had a lovely marble style worktop. It’s so beautiful, I felt obliged to have a drink!
The variety of drinks was really good. You can get beer, wine, Prosecco and a large choice of spirits.
I had a half pint of Neck oil IPA. It was really nice.
I’m a huge fan of the London Heathrow United Lounge, in Terminal 2. There are four Star Alliance Lounges in the terminal, and this is my favourite. I will happily walk 15 minutes to the satellite terminal to visit the lounge.
The lounge is large, spacious and bathed with natural light. The food is excellent. The alcohol is pretty fabulous too. There’s really nothing that I don’t like about the lounge.
I mentioned the other option, if you don’t have access to this lounge. The Plaza Premium Lounge is also in Terminal 2. It’s very good. You can buy entry to that lounge. However, the United Club Lounge is better in my view.
Heathrow Terminal 5 is the global hub of British Airways. My favourite lounge in the terminal is the British Airways Lounge in 5B. Review here. Often called the ‘secret lounge.’ It’s in the satellite terminal, so most people don’t make it here! They use the lounges in the main terminal.
