Qantas Lounge Heathrow Review

The Qantas lounge is in Heathrow Terminal 3. Four Oneworld lounges are in Terminal 3. There are also lounges for BA, American and Cathay Pacific.

This Qantas Lounge Heathrow Terminal 3 review covers the lounge itself. It is pretty good, too.

I was here at breakfast time before my American Airlines Business Class flight.

The lounge is a rectangular shape with runway views. There was a small hot buffet with tasty food.

I stumbled on the Qantas lounge before an American Airlines Business flight, breakfast service in full swing. Four Oneworld lounges share Terminal 3, so it's worth knowing this one specifically holds its own.

The lounge runs over two floors, which gives it more depth than the rectangular footprint suggests at first glance. Design-wise it's a cut above what I expected — proper leather sofas, a marble-effect manned bar doing the drinks. Plenty of natural light comes through the windows too, which makes the runway views feel pleasant rather than an afterthought.

It's not without its limits, mind. There's a small kids' room with a table and a few books, which is a nice touch if you're travelling with little ones. Just don't expect it to occupy them for long. The bar itself pours a proper range including Prosecco, so it's not just a coffee-machine-and-hope situation.

If you're the type who plans lounge access properly rather than hoping for the best at the desk, my Recommended Resources page has a few things worth a look, including Priority Pass and its 30% membership discount, along with the rest of the deals I actually use for this kind of trip. Check out my Recommended Resources page before your next flight.

What I Liked

  • Natural light came into the lounge
  • Tasty hot buffet
  • Well-designed lounge
  • Luxury tea selection

What Could Be Improved

  • Smallish lounge

The Entry Requirements

Here's how you get access to the Qantas Lounge at Heathrow:

  • Flying Qantas in Business or First
  • Flying a Oneworld partner airline in Business or First — that's how I got in, on my way to an American Airlines Business Class flight
  • Qualifying Qantas or Oneworld frequent flyer status

The Lounge Access with Priority Pass

If you're after the Qantas Lounge Heathrow Terminal 3 price, I don't have the exact figure for Qantas Club membership to hand, but airline-branded lounge memberships like this tend to cost a fair bit more than the alternative.

Priority Pass is a better value option in my view. Signup here and get a 30% discount. Standard Plus costs £183 and gets you 10 lounge visits, working out at £18.30 each. The cheapest membership is £48.

A coffee and something to eat at the airport before a flight adds up fast, so a Priority Pass membership can easily pay for itself in a visit or two.

Priority Pass isn't perfect — lounges can get busy, and you might be turned away if it's full. I'd pre-book a timeslot for £6 to guarantee your entry.

There are several other Priority Pass lounges in Heathrow Terminal 3, including My Lounge and the No1 Lounge — I've reviewed both.

The Location

If you're wondering where the Qantas Lounge Heathrow is, it's located in Terminal 3 — a five-minute walk after security.

It’s next to all the other lounges. Including the British Airways Lounge, Virgin Clubhouse and some Priority Pass Lounges.

Airport Parking

Sorting your airport parking before you fly to Heathrow is one less thing to think about.

I book with Purple Parking. They operate at every major UK airport, so wherever your trip starts, they've got you covered.

They promise to be the cheapest airport parking around. And with a solid 4.1-star rating on Trustpilot, plenty of travellers rate them too.

Book your airport parking with Purple Parking here. Booking ahead nearly always beats turning up and paying on the day.

The best activities in London

A walk along the South Bank costs nothing and gives you some of the best views in the city. You'll pass the London Eye, Shakespeare's Globe and Tate Modern, with St Paul's sitting right across the water. Grab a coffee, walk it at your own pace, and just take it in. Frankly, it's one of the best free things you can do in London.

London in a Day: Tower of London, Westminster & River Cruise

Book your ticket here from $131. Rated 4.8* from 992 reviews. It's a full day covering the Tower of London, Westminster and a river cruise — proper bang for your buck if you only have one day to see the big hitters. It's not cheap, but you're covering a lot of ground in one go.

London 30 Top Sights with Fun Local Guide

You can book here for $66. Rated 4.85* from 2,564 reviews. A local guide takes you round more than 20 sights, and kids go free — handy if you're travelling as a family.

London: City of London Walking Tour

Buy tickets here for just $19. Rated 4.99* from 83 reviews — about as close to a perfect score as you'll find. It's a small group walking tour through the old City, with a few bonus stops thrown in. Cheap, well rated, and a good option if you'd rather walk than sit on a bus.

The Lounge

The Qantas Lounge Heathrow Terminal 3 is a rectangle shape. It is mid-sized. The lounge is located over two floors.

Hot food is served from the buffet. Alcohol is served from a manned bar.

The seating is mainly classy leather sofas and seats.

I liked the lounge design. There were expensive pieces of furniture dotted around, and the seating felt more considered than your average airport lounge.

The lounge wasn't too busy when I was there.

The lounge had windows out to the apron, which meant a decent amount of daylight even at breakfast time.

There was a very small kids' room with some kids' books and a small table.

The lounge doesn't publish seat counts or exact opening hours anywhere I can verify, so I won't guess at those. What I can say: despite spreading across two floors, it's on the smaller side compared to other Oneworld lounges I've visited — worth knowing if you're picturing something sprawling. It didn't feel cramped when I was there, but it's not a lounge built for a packed peak-hour rush either.

The Food

All of the food was served from the small buffet counter.

The Qantas Lounge Heathrow Terminal 3 menu had a small variety of well-made hot dishes when I was there during the breakfast service.

  • Mushrooms
  • Baked beans
  • Boiled eggs
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Sausages
  • Bacon
  • Yoghurts
  • Cut fruit

I had some of the mushrooms, which were nicely cooked in thyme, with plenty of flavour.

I took a look at the other dishes. The bacon looked awful and undercooked. But I'm vegetarian, so what do I know?!

Don't pity me for being vegetarian. It's my own fault!

The Drinks

The marble-effect bar handled all the alcohol service.

The bar had a good range of drinks on offer, including Prosecco.

Coffee came from the machine.

There was a luxury tea selection.

I had an English breakfast tea, which was nice.

My Take

The Qantas Lounge Heathrow won't blow you away with scale, but it didn't need to. It's calm, comfortable and a cut above what I expected for a mid-morning stop before a flight.

It's not perfect. The lounge is on the smaller side, and the food comes from a small buffet counter rather than anything more elaborate — my mushrooms tasted good, but this isn't a place chasing culinary fireworks. The luxury tea selection and manned bar pulling proper drinks including Prosecco go some way to making up for that.

If you want somewhere calm, well designed and not rammed, this is a solid Terminal 3 choice if you're flying Oneworld. If you're after a sprawling lounge with bells and whistles, look elsewhere. For a pre-flight breakfast stop, though, I'd happily go back. That's my Qantas Lounge Heathrow Terminal 3 review — solid, not spectacular, but worth it for a calm start to the day.
